Four steps to your first explanation

  1. 1Download the installer and run it.
  2. 2Restart Power BI Desktop so the ribbon button appears.
  3. 3Open External Tools › BI Compass.
  4. 4Sign in once with the short code the app shows you.

Requirements

  • Windows 10 or Windows 11 (x64 or ARM64)
  • Power BI Desktop, any recent monthly release
  • About 200 MB of disk space
  • Internet for the licence check — then it works offline for 14 days

Before you install

BI Compass reads Power BI's interface through Windows UI Automation, read-only. It never reads report data, file names or page names, and never clicks or types for you.
